Research Associate in ageing research

Job Description:

The successful post-holder will be a quantitative researcher (epidemiologist or statistician) and will have experience of conducting health research, including working with large datasets, complex modelling, and longitudinal analyses. They will possess the skills to ensure the successful planning and execution of the project. They will have excellent communication and presentation skills. Applications from candidates who have experience of conducting epidemiological research on older adults, people with Parkinsons or with cognitive problems would be welcome. An understanding of the Spanish language would be an asset, but this is not a firm requirement.  

 Responsibilities:

  • Data management and cleaning
  • Epidemiological data analysis
  • Preparation of study reports study reports, presentations, academic publications and updates for the study team and the funder
  • Liaising with the different stakeholders involved in the project
  • Supporting senior members of the team and the Lead Investigator to deliver the outputs of the project within the agreed project schedule
  • Attending and contributing to study meetings, including presenting information on research progress
  • Demonstrating excellent communication skills and communication channels with study sites and research colleagues (including collaborators)
  • Demonstrating initiative and autonomy in the management of day-to-day tasks and ongoing workloads, to ensure they are prioritised and completed within agreed timeframes
  • Anticipating and managing problems that may affect the achievement of research objectives and deadlines
  • Contributing to the management of information with full awareness of needs for confidentiality and data protection
  • Demonstrating clear attention to detail and an organised and accurate approach to recording, storing and managing the data acquired
  • Working on future grant applications related to the topic

Experience:

  • Experience of conducting research on Parkinson’s Disease, dementia or cognitive impairment or other age-related topics
  • Experience of working with data from Latin America
  • Knowledge of the Spanish Langugae
  • MSc in research methods or equivalent professional experience (essential for the research assistant role)
  • Publication in peer-reviewed journals
  • Grant writing experience
