Description:

We are looking for an experienced and suitably qualified teacher of Social Sciences who is keen to join King’s Foundations – a successful, friendly and thriving department located in the heart of London.

As Social Sciences Tutor, you will be teaching highly capable and motivated international students on the King’s International Foundation, which is a one-year, RQF Level 3 programme for those intending to progress to undergraduate degrees at the university.

While we are a campus-based university, it is essential that you are able to demonstrate interest and experience in online and/or blended approaches to teaching.

Responsibilities:

  • To teach on the Social Sciences module on the King’s International Foundation, both on campus and online, ensuring that both module and programme learning outcomes are met.
  • To teach on other related modules on the King’s International Foundation as required – this will depend on Departmental needs and the skills set of the successful candidate.
  • To administer both formative and summative assessments, working with a team of assessors to mark student work in accordance with the university’s marking framework.
  • To provide input into the design and development of the Social Sciences module.
  • To take on personal tutoring duties as required.
  • To engage in continuing professional development and abreast of developments in relevant academic fields.

Benefits:

  • Relevant teaching qualification (we will consider those who are working towards a teaching qualification).
  • Relevant postgraduate degree (we will consider those who are working towards a postgraduate degree).
  • Evidence of successful teaching at pre-undergraduate level, both on campus and online.
  • Understanding of best practice in assessment and feedback on Social Sciences courses.
  • Knowledge of effective online pedagogy.
  • Evidence of high-quality materials design for Social Sciences courses.
  • Ability to communicate accurately, effectively and succinctly in English.
  • Awareness of, and commitment to, inclusive practices in the classroom to cater to the needs of a diverse study body.
  • Ability to manage demanding workloads.
  • Evidence of a commitment to continuing professional development.
