Job Description:
With support from the Prudence Trust, Kings College London has funding available for a 3-year Fellowship in Children and Young people’s Mental Health. The Fellowship is aimed at clinical and non-clinical researchers with a strong research track-record in the field. The Fellowship will start between 1st Oct 2022-1st Jan 2023.
Research conducted during the Fellowship should be focused on improving the mental health of children and young people (primarily ages 8-25) through prevention or early intervention. Projects should aim to advance understanding of anxiety or depression and build evidence on what works to prevent or treat these conditions. We are interested in projects with clear translational outcomes and projects which look at the impact of both traditional and non-traditional interventions (including but not exclusively social, non-clinical practices). The Fellowship is open to researchers in any discipline (and can be interdisciplinary), but we expect most applicants to be working in applied science, as we hope the research will lead to practical applications and real-life change.

- Develop research networks locally, nationally and internationally in support of the research programme including facilitating and participating in cross-cutting research collaborations.
- Provide guidance to other staff and students in his/her specialist area.
- Take part in knowledge transfer activities, as appropriate.
- Take part in enabling activities, as appropriate.
- Contribute to teaching and training activities relevant to departmental activity.
- Seek opportunities to manage own continuing professional development throughout the Fellowship programme.
- Actively follow and promote KCL policies, including Equal Opportunities.
- Maintain awareness and observation of ethical and research governance regulations, plus fire and health and safety regulations.
- Carry out any other duties commensurate with the grade and purpose of the post.
Skills & Experience:
- PhD or equivalent research-related degree in an appropriate discipline.
- Significant postdoctoral research experience
- Recent record of outstanding publications with a strong portfolio of first-author publications in terms of quality of journal and number
- For clinical applicants only: To be considered for clinical pay scales, applicants must have an MBBS degree and GMC registration or equivalent certifications (clinicians)
- Ability to conduct independent research
- A developed and ambitious approach to the key directions for future research in an identified area which is independent of prior supervisors or proposed collaborators
- Ability to plan and implement a creative and influential independent research programme
- Strong communication skills required to disseminate findings and influence the research field
